SUMMARY:Lowland wet grassland recreation and management course
LOCATION:Great Steeping, Lincolnshire, UK.
DESCRIPTION: This is a practical look at restoring, recreating and managing farm-scale wet grassland/grazing marsh and wetlands for waders and wildfowl. Topics covered will include species selection, grazing regimes, water management and the effect on water quality and the diversity of invertebrates. Suitable for those interested in lowland and wet grassland including Environmental Stewardship. Delegates will be actively encouraged to discuss construction, management problems and other methodology. The day will focus on visits to a 115-acre wet grassland/grazing marsh and a 200-acre site aimed primarily for breeding waders with a very high nesting density within a target area for grazing marsh restoration. Facilitator: Roger Wardle, Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group, Flora Locale.
