SUMMARY:Introduction to Hoverflies (Days 1 and 2)
LOCATION:Whisby Education Centre, Whisby Nature Park, Lincoln, UK.
DESCRIPTION: Whisby Education Centre are holding a three day Introduction to Hoverflies course (26th and 27th March and 24th September 2011) with National Experts Roger Morris and Stuart Ball. This course is designed to give the novice sufficient confidence to tackle these attractive and interesting flies. By the end of the second day most pupils can be expected to understand the critical parts of the keys that often cause trouble. The programme comprises a mixture of formal and informal sessions. Identification sessions use preserved material provided by the course tutors. Course literature has been designed to compliment the keys in Stubbs & Falk's British Hoverflies. A second session in September is scheduled to provide an opportunity for pupils to refresh their knowledge and have specimens confirmed. It will also give an opportunity to look at more challenging genera that often cause difficulties. All tuition, materials and refreshments are included within the day. The cost of the three day course is £100.00.
