SUMMARY:Scottish Arachnologists' Meeting 2013
LOCATION:Perth Museum and Art Gallery, George Street, Perth, PH1 5LB, Scotland.
DESCRIPTION: The 2nd annual meeting of Scottish arachnologists will take place this year once again in the beautiful surroundings of Perthshire using the excellent facilities of Perth Museum and Gallery. The day includes a full programme of presentations with discussions on regional activities and how to get involved with spider recording and research in the UK. There is also a field trip (site TBC) for the Sunday where participants can try out field collection techniques and learn from those experienced in arachnid collection and identification first hand. Speakers include: Dr. Helen Smith, President of the BAS, who will present on her work conserving the Fen raft spider (Dolomedes plantarius). Dr. Sara Goodacre (Nottingham), with a talk entitled "What makes a spider fly?" Niall Currie (Buglife) will talk about "Brownfield biodiversity in the Inner Forth". The event is open to all but registration is essential. Attendance £16 (includes tea/coffee).
