SUMMARY:Flying Ant Survey Results 2013
LOCATION:Charles Darwin House, 12 Roger Street, London, WC1N 2JU, UK.
DESCRIPTION: Professor Adam Hart kicks off his 24 hr lecture with two talks, presenting the results of the 2013 flying ant survey and giving an introduction to social insects. 18:00 - 19:00 Living together - an introduction to the social insects Most insects are rather solitary creatures, but some live together in spectacular and surprising ways. These social insects manage to seem both very alien and oddly familiar. Join Adam as he ventures into ants nests, bee hives and termite mounds to discover the world of the social insect. 19:00 - 20:00 Flying Ant Survey 2013 - the Results Learn all about flying ants and find out the results from the 2013 Flying Ant Survey. Adam will talk about what flying ants are, why they behave as they do and compare the results this year with the 2012 survey. What effect will the glorious summer weather have had on flying ants? Join us for both lectures or just one. This event is FREE.
