SUMMARY:David Keen anniversary foray to Headley Heath
LOCATION:Headley Heath, Surrey, KT18 6NN, UK.
DESCRIPTION: 60 years ago this year, on 21st August, former AES President and Council member David Keen's interest in insects was first sparked by seeing a butterfly he couldn't identify, on Headley Heath in Surrey. AES members will be familiar with his story from reading the Bug Club Magazine. So, this year we've decided to have an 'anniversary jaunt' to celebrate this jolly event! Some of us will visit Headley Heath on 18th August (the closest Saturday to that date, (weather permitting!) to see what we can find, and see how our experience compares with that of David Keen. Those of you who do not live close enough to Headley Heath can record insects elsewhere in the country - or even abroad - and let us know what you've found, and we will publish everyone's findings in the Bug Club magazine and/or AES Bulletin. Please meet at the NT car park opposite the cricket club.
