SUMMARY:Darwin's Earthworms
LOCATION:Online
DESCRIPTION: Free online event, booking required, donations welcome. Kerry is a course tutor and secretary for the Earthworm Society of Britain and usually runs courses teaching people about earthworm sampling, identification and recording. She is also an earthworm tutor for the FSC Biolinks project. Coincidentally she also works at the Natural History Museum in London and is very interested in the history of natural history. "It may be doubted whether there are many other animals which have played so important a part in the history of the world" is a quote from Darwin about earthworms. Although famous for other scientific endeavors Darwin realised the importance of earthworms as ecosystem engineers and wrote an entire book about them. This talk will cover the history of earthworm research and look at some of the experiments that Darwin did with earthworms.
