Interactive session with the Oxford University Museum of Natural History. 480 million years of insect evolution have led to some striking adaptations. Learn more about how these have helped insects be so successful with specimens from the Oxford University Museum of Natural History. There will be a brief introduction with a range of specimens showing the diversity of arthropods and the place of insects within this diversity. Young people will then be challenged to explain the adaptions shown in a range of specimens including moths, beetles, mantis and a range of wasp-mimicking insects. We will follow up each example with a brief explanation and finish by encouraging the young people to think about, and perhaps research, the way any insects they find are adapted to their environment.
