SUMMARY:The Value of Nature lecture
LOCATION:Natural History Museum, London, UK.
DESCRIPTION: You don't need to be an expert to enjoy this fascinating lecture in the relaxed atmosphere and beautiful surroundings of the Museum's Central Hall. This year's Annual Science Lecture will be presented by Pavan Sukhdev, a senior banker at Deutsche Bank, currently on secondment to the United Nations Environment Programme to lead the agency's Green Economy Initiative. He is study leader for The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity report (TEEB). Our wellbeing is dependent on nature; providing our food, fuel, clean water and medicines. The natural world is the source of much value to us every day - this can be spiritually, culturally, health-wise or economically; and yet the benefits we receive from nature mostly bypass markets, escape pricing and defy valuation. Pavan Sukhdev explains, that as pressures increase from population growth, changing diets, urbanisation and climate change, we are suffering the consequences. £13.50, £10 concessions
