SUMMARY:Invertebrate Link (JCCBI) Symposium 2015
LOCATION:Linnean Society of London, Burlington House, Piccadilly, London, W1J 0BF, UK.
DESCRIPTION: Invertebrate Link (the Joint Committee for Conservation of British Invertebrates) is holding a symposium at the Linnean Society on 23 September, to mark its 100th meeting later in the year. The meeting is held in association with the Linnean Society's Taxonomy & Systematics Committee, and there will be an AES speaker. Formed in 1968 as the Joint Committee for the Conservation of British Insects, Invertebrate Link (JCCBI) brings together organisations concerned with the conservation and study of invertebrates in the UK. It provides a forum for the sharing of information and views amongst its member organisations, which include leading conservation charities, statutory bodies, entomological societies and specialist groups. Over the years, Invertebrate Link has produced various well-regarded codes of practice, guidance documents and policy statements, and has organised conferences highlighting its concerns, many of which are shared by the Linnean Society's Taxonomy & Systematics Committee. Speakers at this Symposium, which marks Invertebrate Link's 100th meeting, will address a range of such themes, including recruitment of the next generation of invertebrate specialists and biological recorders, and the importance of specimen collections, best practice in site surveys, and co-operation towards shared goals. Attendance is free but registration is required. Relevant downloads: * Event programme [PDF, 84K]
