DESCRIPTION: From towering toadstools down to microscopic filaments of mycelium, this course will explore the diversity of form and function that these important organisms display. We will cover the biology and some of the ecological roles and symbioses that Fungi form, to aid as a platform for understanding their life cycles and which habitats they can be found in. The course will focus on field identification skills and the terminology necessary to correctly distinguish different forms and parts of specimens. We will also look at the use of compound microscopes and the literature that is required for accurate study.
