Vortis sampler

The Vortis sampler is a type of insect suction sampler that is said not to harm the insects. The insects can then be returned to their habitat after being identified and recorded.

The sampler does not use a bag to collect the insects and they are separated from the air flow and stored in a collecting vessel instead. As the insects are kept out of the air flow there is less risk of them being killed in the sampler.
