National Insect Week
The Amateur Entomologists' Society is a partner organisation in National Insect Week. National Insect Week is organised by the Royal Entomological Society and runs every other year, it features a week long series of events promoting insects that take place across the country. Previous events included moth trapping, butterfly walks and a dragonfly day. It's the perfect time to meet some of Britain's most fascinating creatures close-up.
National Insect Week first took place in 2004 with a high-profile launch at the Natural History Museum in London. The launch included interviews with young entomologists by Steve Backshall from the BBC TV programme The Really Wild Show. In 2006, the event was launched by Kate Humble (presenter on BBC's Springwatch and Autumnwatch) also at the Natural History Museum.
