Natural history field meeting 2026

13 June 2026 14:30

Location: Honeysuckle Lane Open Space, Honeysuckle Lane, Worthing, West Sussex, UK.

Event description

A natural history field meeting at the Honeysuckle Lane Open Space ('The Sanctuary') - an area of chalk grassland, scrub and semi-natural woodland, on the edge of High Salvington and within the South Downs National Park: https://www.adur-worthing.gov.uk/parks/conservation-and-countryside/honeysuckle-lane/

'The Sanctuary' is much frequented by ramblers and dog-walkers, but there are opportunities to escape them in its more secluded woodland and glades.

The purpose of the field meeting will be to look for, and to record, species of plant, bird and invertebrate. People of all ages are welcome. There are many seats with attractive views for older or less mobile participants. Children will be very welcome.  It will be an informal and relaxed gathering and specialist knowledge is not needed.

The trip will be followed by tea and cakes. Numbers may need to be limited, depending on how many people turn up - please check with the organisers beforehand if you would like to come to tea.
