Event description

The theme of the conference will be: 'Indicator Species in the Countryside'

Chris Packham, TV wildlife presenter and photographer will be the guest of honour receiving a Fellowship Honoris Causa and giving the keynote lecture - 'Nature on the Box'.

Speaker sessions in the morning will be chaired by Professor David Bellamy, President of the BNA, and will include Professor Trevor Beebee, of Sussex University, talking about: Amphibians under Pressure in the Countryside.

Professor Trevor Beebee will receive the Peter Scott Memorial Award and Fellowship at a colourful Encaenia ceremony in the afternoon.

Phil Richardson, bat expert, will talk on 'Bats as Indicators' and Professor Ted Benton, will speak on 'Bumblebees in Britain, - Countryside Indicator Species'.

Field Workshops

A programme of Field Workshops will be held across the day in the surrounding Epping Forest. This will include Bats, Bumblebees & Dragonflies, Frogs, Toads & Newts, Spiders, Small Mammal trapping & Botany.
