Osterley Park BioBlitz 2009
20 August 2009 23:00 - 21 August 2009 23:00
Location: Osterley Park & House, Middlesex, UK.
This event is a joint AES and National Trust event. A BioBlitz is a race again the clock event where scientists, naturalists, students and others identify as much wildlife as possible in a given area. The BioBlitz will take place on the Saturday but will also be a moth trapping session on the Friday.
The moth trapping on the Friday evening (Aug 21st) will be from 8pm until 11pm. Any traps left out overnight will be retrieved in the morning and placed somewhere cool until 10am when they will be examined.
After that there will be a talk by the NT warden and possibly from the AES and after lunch everyone will go 'bug hunting' in the meadows.
A Box Office has been set up so that numbers can be catered for. The box office phone number is 0208 232 5050 (the main Osterley NT number).
The event is free, but when you ring the box office you can also order a National Trust home made packed lunch for the Saturday. This costs £5.70 and consists of a choice of sandwiches (either egg & cress or cheese and apple chutney) home made flapjack, bottle of water, piece of fruit and a packet of Tyrell crisps). Or you can bring your own lunch of course, or use the NT cafeteria.
This event was organised by the AES.
