Springwatch Festival - Wild Day Out
05 June 2010 10:00 - 16:00
Location: Alexandra Palace Park, Haringey, London, UK.
Calling all nature detectives! Come along to the free Springwatch Wild Day Out nature festival at Alexandra Palace Park and discover how many creatures, critters and creepy-crawlies live in the park. Visit the discovery zones where you can embark on a bug hunt, go worm charming, net a butterfly or even try a tree trail.
You'll be able to join scientists from the Natural History Museum and local wildlife experts as they take part in a BioBlitz, a huge wildlife hunt against the clock. Help them spot as many species as possible or head down to the BioBlitz base camp to get a closer look at what's been found.
You'll also learn how to be a nature hero by helping to save local wildlife. Discover how fun and easy it is to encourage nature by trying one of the wild activities from making a mini beast hotel to sowing seeds or even cooking a feast for the birds.
Nature groups and relevant organisations, including the Amateur Entomologists' Society, will also have stalls at the festival.
The AES is not involved with the organisation of this event but will be attending.
