Moths of Markstakes Common
30 July 2011 20:30 - 31 July 2011
Location: Markstakes Lane, South Chailey, East Sussex (TQ398183)
Meet by the gate on the southern side of the road at TQ39771836 by 21.30 hours, before we head into this area of Lewes District Council-owned open woodland, managed by the Friends of Markstakes Common. This area of common land has a fascinating history of human usage and contains a number of ancient woodland indicators. There is also a rare mere habitat and a large freshwater pond.
AES members are welcome to bring additional light traps along (with their own power sources); torches or headlamps are essential. Please also wear suitable footwear.
This site has not previously been surveyed for moths, so no particular species will be targeted. We will see what turns up!
This event was not organised by the AES. Please contact the event organiser if you have any queries.
