Insect identification workshop: An introduction to leafhoppers and allied groups - September 2011
17 September 2011 10:30 - 16:00
Location: National Museum of Scotland, Chambers Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1JF, UK.
Event description
The Auchenorrhyncha are part of the Hemiptera ('true bugs') and include insects commonly referred to as leafhoppers, planthoppers, froghoppers, treehoppers and cicadas.
In order to encourage wider interest in this colourful and diverse group of insects, the national recording scheme for Auchenorrhyncha is running a series of free one-day introductory identification workshops in 2011-2012, generously sponsored by the Open Air Laboratories (OPAL) project. These will be held indoors, but may also involve a field component if the season and weather allows. Although aimed particularly at newcomers to this group of insects, more experienced participants are also welcome.
Tutors: Dr Alan Stewart (Sussex) & Dr Tristan Bantock (London)
