Butterflies, Beetles and Bees - Bristol

14 July 2015 10:00 - 16:00

Location: Royal West of England Academy, Queen's Road, Clifton, Bristol BS8 1PX, UK.

Event description

This sketching workshop is for beginners and for those who love insects and want to find out more about their fascinating anatomy, and diversity of form. In short, it is designed to celebrate their hidden world.

Drawing such small and intricate creatures can be difficult because of the challenges thrown up by their size, but on this workshop, each participant will have the use of their own dedicated high powered microscope and other magnification equipment, such as hand-held magnifying glasses, as well as macro photographs from Cath's own collection to overcome problems of scale. They will also be making full use of Cath's own collection of fascinating insect specimens - both exotic and indigenous - and paying homage to these wonderful mini beasts by producing beautiful, unique and detailed microscopy artwork.

Do come along and enter a fascinating unseen world.
