Dragonfly Identification Workshop 2017

17 June 2017 11:00 - 17:00

Location: The Old Bath House, Leckford, SO20 6JG, UK.

Event description

Often grouped together as 'Dragonflies', there are two distinct groups - the Anisoptera (Dragonflies) and the Zygoptera (Damselflies).

This one day course will look at some of the characteristics that help to identify the different species in each group.

The day is suitable for anyone aged 18 and over and will include various talks and demonstrations, by the leader Bryan Pinchen, using keys, photographs and museum specimens.

The emphasis for the day is very much on participants having a go themselves.

During the afternoon session (weather permitting), we will search the nearby banks of the River Test (access has been granted by the John Spedan Lewis Trust) to demonstrate the fieldwork techniques used to find and record species in their natural habitat.

Cost: £25.00 (to include tea/coffee)

There are a limited number of subsidised (half course fee) places for students provided by the John Spedan Lewis Trust. Please check availability at time of booking.
