Catch results from AES event at Perivale Wood

National Moth Night (NMN) took place on the 15th May 2010. To mark the NMN, AES member David Howdon ran an event for AES and Bug Club members and their guests at Perivale Wood.
Perivale Wood is a 27 acre (11 hectare) area of ancient oak woodland in west London. It is bounded to the north by the Grand Union canal, to the south by a railway embankment and houses, to the west by industrial units and to the east by houses and recreational open space. The reserve is managed by the Selborne Society as a memorial to 18th century naturalist Gilbert White.
The results from National Moth Night AES event were as follows:
- Daytime observations:
- Twenty-plume Moth (Alucita hexadactyla) - 2 specimens
- Sandy Carpet (Perizoma flavofasciata) - 3 specimens
- Dusking:
- Brimstone Moth (Opisthograptis luteolata) - 1 specimen
- Two Caterpillars (to be identified)
- Sugaring:
- No moths
- Actinic trap:
- No moths
- Lamp (125W MV) and Sheet:
- Nematopogon swammerdamella - 2 specimens
- Sandy Carpet (Perizoma flavofasciata) - 1 specimen
- Brimstone Moth (Opisthograptis luteolata) - 3 specimens
- Skinner trap (125W MV):
- Esperia sulphurella - 1 specimen
- Sandy Carpet (Perizoma flavofasciata) - 1 specimen
- Herald (Scoliopteryx libatrix) - 1 specimen
- Robinson trap (125W MV):
- Maiden's Blush (Cyclophora punctaria) - 1 specimen
- Pale Prominent (Pterostoma palpina) - 1 specimen
- Hebrew Character (Orthosia gothica) - 1 specimen
