Join the Big Butterfly Count

Published: 23 July 2010

This weekend sees the start of the Big Butterfly Count. The project aims to assess the health of our environment by using butterflies and moths as indicator species. Butterflies and moths react quickly to changes in the environment so, by assessing their populations, they can tell us much about the health of our environment.

To take part in the Big Butterfly Count just count the butterflies you see during a 15 minute period on any day between the 24th July and 1st August. Further information on how to perform your count and record your sightings can be found on the official web site: http://www.bigbutterflycount.org

The Big Butterfly Count is a project run by Butterfly Conservation and Marks & Spencer.
