Season's greetings from the AES
Published: 24 December 2008
The Amateur Entomologists' Society would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
The AES would also like to thank everyone who conributeed to the AES during the year - whether in the form of items for the Bulletin, Bug Club Magazine or Web site, or exhibits at the Members' Day or Annual Exhibition, or any other contributions.
In addition to the publication of our periodicals the AES also published two new books during 2008. In June we published A year in the lives of British ladybirds and in October we published The larger water beetles of the British Isles. Look out for some exciting new releases in 2009.
In the coming year the AES will be publishing the Entomologist's Record, so that will be another opportunity for everyone to contribute! In addition, anyone interested in molluscs or microscopy will have a chance to explore those subjects in depth through our new affiliates, the Quekett Microscopical Club and the Conchological Society of Great Britain and Ireland.
There will always be insects and, judging from the number of people (young and old) joining the Society, plenty of people to study them. Although our investments will inevitably suffer as a result of the current economic downturn, it's nice to think that, as a society of able and willing volunteers, the AES is hopefully relatively recession proof.
With best wishes for a happy holiday season, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
